Selamawit's Story

Amidst growing occupational specialization, skills have
come to be indispensable tools for achieving self-sufficient
living. HOPE has incorporated skills training from its inception,
developing a program that is demand driven, keeping in touch
with public and private sectors as well as technological
advancements. HOPE’s programs are very hands-on, shop
focused, and incorporate a significant apprenticeship component.
This results in trainees who have relevant skills and strong
employment opportunities. Over 245 youngsters are enrolled
in 1, 2, or 3 years of training past 10th grade. The cost
per student per month is USD 25 for 10+1, USD 28 for 10+2
and USD 30 for 10+3 with the latter being equivalent to
a junior college.
