HOPE University College, Ethiopia’s first not-for-profit liberal arts university college, was established in 2003 with the aim of providing a first class educational establishment for the youth of Ethiopia in an effort to reduce the ‘brain drain’ that has so long been taking place as students look abroad for the quality education they cannot find at home.

It is designed to develop informed, articulate, sensitive and holistic leaders who can make a positive, transformational difference in the development of Ethiopia and the rest of the Horn of Africa within a community of academic excellence and value maturity, through autonomous thinking, continuous learning processes, reflection, research, experimentation, and concern and service to others.

Hope University College, located in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia and the seat of the African Union, is currently under construction and is due to open its doors in September 2009.
