Zenabu
was born in a farming family in Tigray. Growing up in the
area where war and natural calamities like drought took
a heavy toll was too difficult a burden to bear for adults,
let alone for a young child like Zenabu. Children were left
alone, as parents were either deceased or too weak to care
for them. Zenabu was one of the abandoned children gathered
by the government and entrusted to HOPE Enterprises. Cognizant
of the fact that the best help is enabling people to help
themselves, Zenabu was enrolled in HOPE school so that he
would be able to help himself someday. As soon as he completed
his primary education, Zenabu enrolled in the 8+3 vocational
training program to study Electrical Technology. The
training enabled me to gain the skills that have helped
me realize my long awaited dream of supporting myself.
After graduation, Zenabu started working as a private contractor.
He owes much of his success to HOPE, which he says has protected
and raised him like his own family. HOPE is the closest
place I could call home, Zenabu says. I dont
know what would have happened to me if I was not brought
to HOPE. Thanks to HOPE, my life has now changed and I have
nothing to worry about except working even harder for a
much better future.
